Its Christmas Time Again

christmas bear

Thats right kiddies Christmas time again (infact just tommorrow) and me and Gem have all of our shopping sorted now thankfully. I refuse to shop the last couple of days before Christmas, I just hate waiting in lines! In fact being in a line the other day got me thinking if they had a paid express lane whereby say you paid a 5% surcharge or so on your total purchase to get instantly served. I know I would pay for it!

I have been very slack with updates this week due to big work commitments and the usual Christmas stuff and maybe just playing the Wii a lil bit too much. Everyone loves the Wii, it certainly has been a big hit in the house including Ryan and Wally who came over last night and couldn’t get enough of it.

This afternoon we’re off to Gemmas sisters place at the Coast and then back out to my parents place tommorrow for a couple of days. So probably not many updates for a few days again.

Lastly Chris came up on Friday which suprised everyone and me and Brent went out to lunch with him then that night me and Gem took him on the Annual Christmas Lights cruise that TCF has. Thanks for dropping by Chris as Im certain you’ll be reading this!

Storms hitting us hard and some old website

Tags: No Tags

storm.jpg

Yesterday afternoon our house and most of the surrounding neighbourhood (Centenary Heights, Toowoomba to be exact) got hit by a pretty storm yesterday afternoon (Friday) infact bad enough to have a branch fall on the powerlines near our house and fall on the road. Gemma gave me a call yesterday afternoon to tell me she just got home from a severe storm that should couldn’t see anything through and that there was parts of trees everywhere and the power was out along with police etc. at the end of the street attending to the broken powerline.

Running out precious time now!

netmag.jpg

Guess what came in the mail for me yesterday? Oh thats right, the .Net magazine I have been waiting on for over 6 weeks now! Was so happy when it arrived… I carefully opened it and placed it in my bag to take home. Had a good read of it last night and it was well worth the wait and Im going to start my subscription very soon!

At the moment my Wii is currently updating, I finally got it to work with my wireless connection here. I bought a Linksys WRT54G wireless router from Warcom last friday and it has been the best lil investment for my home network setup. Previously I was just running a ad hoc network which really can be a pain to setup for 5+ computers with often dropouts and other wierd problems. It took very little time (read: 5 minutes) to setup the network with the new router and the wireless network is much faster, quicker to connect to and seems far more stable.

3 Days with no posts, that could only mean one thing… The Wii has been a success :) We have been playing the Wii for most of our spare time on the weekend including taking it to a friend’s place to give it a go on his projector setup (as pictured). We had Gemma’s parents over on Saturday night along with her sister and the parents had an awesome time with Gem’s dad really getting into it which was a bit of a suprise!

got my wii

Thats right, you heard it here first. I finally have my Wii sitting right here with me at the office. I picked it up from Myer at 9AM along with my other little goodies of GT Pro Series (racing game) and Wii Play (comes with free wiimote and is just $10 extra to buying an extra wiimote). I actually forgot to get my spare nun-chuck but have rung up and getting them to hold it for me till I go down there for lunch.

Making Inspiration Even Easier

Tags: No Tags

websites

Over the past few days I have been coming up for some new ideas for a website gallery just like the many others I use for inspiration and to see current website trends. I don’t know when I will find the time to build the gallery as Im going to try and advance my PHP skills a bit further to build it. Sure theres many other website galleries out there that are pretty much the same thing in my opinion but a certain difference that is on the WebCreme that has given me some good ideas to expand on (think categorising and search) that will make it hopefully very popular among designers like myself.

Music to Keep me Working Hard

Tags: , , ,

tunesI don’t always like to sit in silence whilst doing work but then I also the dilema of getting into the music to much instead of working. I think I have found a good balance of what music to listen to which mostly contains what is called ‘Chillout’. Nice mellow tunes that stop you from getting into it just a lil too much ;)

I have got a heap of the Ministry of Sound Chillout albums which contain a good variety of these mixes. Infact I have been downloading them from a great ‘legal’ website call AllofMp3. Theres been a lot of discussion in world news about this website however to its ‘legality’ but its still up and running so I advise you to go check it out, when compared to other popular sites for music it defiantly tops the list!

One site that gave me a little chuckle this week was on what happens when you let a developer create user interface, not exactly an appealing interface and shows how many developers are just happy that a program just does what it needs to and leave it at. So many other websites out there have the same problem and with some nice design changes they could easily increase their appeal without a doubt!

glovesWednesday morning I decided I will start to mod up my bike a little bit and first of all went and bought me some Gloves for the bike, just the style to cover your hands as i have been starting to get some blisters. My main aim at the moment is to keep on doing 10km bike rides 3 times a week to help keep me fit and live just a little bit longer. I also just have now ordered a CatEye Wireless Cycle Computer (not wi-fi wireless hehe) to help me keep track of the distances I’m riding and average speeds etc. and even has a total odometer!
